Our Projects

Urban Farm

Growing our community's food

Fresh from the farm

The Urban Farm project started on 28th September 2014 by the members of Midchurch, Randjesfontein, on a property adjacent to the Church grounds in Midrand. The purpose of this project is to provide fresh vegetables for various children’s homes, families and individuals in the area. The Farm is run entirely on donations from the community, the time of volunteers and one full time farm employee.

Food Parcels

Feeding the community

Packed with love

The Food Parcel project started in May 2020 during the early days of the Covid19 lockdown in South Africa, in response to the growing need for food due to the closing of businesses and livelihoods negatively affected by the lockdown. The food parcels are given out weekly and monthly to support and feed close to 50 families in the surrounding community. The project is run entirely on the donations from members of Midchurch and the wider community and by means of a team of volunteers who source the contents of the parcels and pack the parcels ready for collection.

Market Day

Creating awareness of our community

Fun for all

IsivandeSethu Non-Profit Company has been hosting two Market Days each year, since March 2024 on the Midchurch grounds.  We host a number of stalls with the support from the Midchurch community, as well as the communities around us, like Randjesfontein and Glen Austin. This is a wonderful way to increase awareness about IsivandeSethu NPC and our market days raises funds for our projects that we are involved with.

Sani-Pads

Dignity for our community

Made with care

High school girls and new mothers in lower income communities experience difficulties as a result of the high cost of feminine hygiene products. Washable sanitary pads provide a solution that has been found to be acceptable and welcomed by the user-community.  The sani-pads are made with care by members of the Midchurch community.
