Urban Farm

Growing our community's food

Fresh from the farm

The Urban Farm project started on 28/09/2014 by the members of Midchurch, Randjesfontein, on a property adjacent to the Church grounds in Midrand for the purpose of providing fresh vegetables for various children’s homes, families and individuals in the area. The Farm is run entirely on donations from the community and the time of volunteers, and one full time farm worker, Mr Themba Ndlovu, who plants, tends and harvests the crops. The crops include beetroot, carrots, pumpkin, broccoli, cabbage, corn, spinach, potatoes and much more…

Food Parcels

Feeding the community

Packed with love

Started in May 2020 during the early days of the Covid19 lockdown in RSA in response to the growing need for food due to the closing of businesses and livelihoods negatively affected by the lockdown. The food parcels are given out weekly to support and feed close to 100 people in the surrounding community. The project is run entirely on the donations from members of Midchurch and the wider community and by means of a team of volunteers who sources the contents of the parcels and pack the parcels ready for collection. Each parcel is valued at roughly R100.
